Do Esteemable Acts

I once heard Dr. Laura Schlesinger talk about how bogus self-esteem was the way parents and teachers talk about it.
"We have to give our children good self esteem" callers would say.
Wrong. Self esteem comes from within. You can't give it to anyone. If you want to feel good about yourself, you have to do esteemable acts, she would advise callers.
She's right.
For the past few weeks I've been on a leadership team helping host a fundraiser for a rider on the ALC Ride to end AIDS. In one afternoon we raised over $2700 for his ride. Each rider is responsible for earning $3000 in donations in order to make the ride; John's goal was $15,000. Nice to know that we helped him get there.
